Firm Specific Game Modes

The firm specific game modes are designed to imitate the real mental math tests you can receive from different firms. The Quantable Team takes great care to dynamically generate the same types of mental math questions that are encountered in real online assessments.



Detailed Settings and Directions


1. Game Mode

These are preset modes created by the Quantable team.

  • How it Works: Choose a mode (e.g., “Easy,” Hard,” etc.) that automatically determines what types of questions to generate
  • Tip: Hover over the info circle (i) for more details on each preset.

2. Exam Format

Determines if the game is based on duration or number of questions.

  • Duration: You have a set amount of time to answer as many questions as you can.
  • Number of Questions: You have a predetermined number of questions to answer at your own pace.

3. Amount of Time / Amount of Questions

Depending on the Exam Format, choose one of the following:

  • Amount of Time: Select how many minutes or seconds the game should last.
  • Amount of Questions: Select how many questions you want to answer in one round.

4. Answer Format

Decide how you will provide your answers:

  • Typing In: Manually type the answer for each question.
  • Multiple Choice: Choose from a list of possible answers.

5. Allow Skips

Choose whether you can skip questions you don’t know:

  • Enabled: You can skip to the next question without a penalty. Skipped questions do not affect your score.
  • Disabled: You must answer every question before moving on.

6. Manual Movement

Controls how you progress to the next question:

  • Press "Enter" to Proceed: After typing the correct answer, press "Enter" to confirm and load the next question.
  • Auto-Advance: Once you type the correct answer, the game automatically moves to the next question.

6. Penalize Wrong Answers (Manual Movement Only)

Determines if your score is penalized for giving a wrong answer

  • Enabled: Wrong answers subtract 1 point from your score
  • Disabled: Wrong answers don't subtract from your score

7. Operations and Advanced Settings

7.1 Addition & Subtraction

  • Integers: Choose a lower and upper bound for the two numbers in each expression.
  • Non-Negative Answers (Subtraction): Optionally restrict subtraction problems so that all results are (geq 0).

7.2 Multiplication & Division

  • Integers: Choose a lower and upper bound for the numbers to multiply.
  • Division Bounds: The lower and upper bound apply to the result of division questions.

7.3 Include Decimals

  • Up to 2 Decimals: The game may produce decimal numbers in questions and answers.
  • Fancy Decimals: Introduces decimal numbers with multiple leading zeroes (e.g., 0.0075).

7.4 Include Fractions

  • Fractional Questions: Includes fractions with denominators up to 12 in the selected operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

7.5 Include Squares/Cubes

  • and : Questions will appear in the form of squaring or cubing a number.
  • Bounds: Choose lower and upper values for (x).

7.6 Include Square Roots/Cube Roots

  • √x and ∛x: Questions will appear as square roots or cube roots.
  • Integer Mode: All roots produce integer answers only.
  • Decimal Mode: Answers are rounded to the nearest tenth.
